What if maybe he’s attempting subtle sabotage between PC and Takeshi?Įven PC is experiencing severe whiplash at this point. Yeah, who’d have thunk that boys and girls can be close and not date? I’m keeping a ten-foot pole from that shit. Right-because that makes so much more sense. You know, I seriously have no fucking idea what Japanese sports team managers do. If you say ‘manager’ in Japan, it often indicates a ‘towel boy’ (aka waterboy) rather than an ‘office manager’. Towel boys are the kids who hang out at the sidelines with bottles of water and hand towels to the athletes at sports games. So if you say ‘joshi-mane/joshi-manager’, it is generally referring to a female manager who takes care of sports players like towel boys do. They also take care of equipment, sports team records, and more. Now, you can imagine that a lot of boys develop crushes on their joshi-mane, possibly because they are so helpful and supportive of all the players on the team during the school year. Well… I can see where PC might have been mistaken. I even made trainer cards for them! It was a lot of fun, and I even elaborated on why they would have each Pokemon.įlorges was the first thing that came to mind because of the fact that Haru works at his family’s flower shop, so I could imagine his Florges helping him arrange pretty bouquets :3 Throh and Chesnaught were added since Haru is in the judo club (Throh is even known as the “Judo” Pokemon!). Leavanny and Unfezant represents Haruki’s kindness towards everyone and his willingness to always help others. Finally, Sawsbuck also adds on to his knowledge of flowers/plants, but also his high sense of responsibility. Ryuzo’s team consists of the tough, gentle-giant like Pokemon. Pangoros were actually inspired by old-fashioned Japanese delinquents, but they’re actually really big softies underneath just like Ryu! Poliwrath, Camerupt, and Krookodile were added because like Pangoro, they look tough and scary, but are very kind and protective in reality. Dragonite represents Ryu’s big brother instincts and how he is always looking out for others. Ampharos represent his obliviousness towards his surroundings XD (I base my Ampharos interpretations off the anime, where pretty much every Ampharos is a loveable derpy dragon-sheep). Slurpuff was an obvious choice for Ichigo because it’s literally a cupcake/merengue Pokemon! Just imagine it help Ichy make the best desserts :D (plus I also have this headcanon that he named his Slurpuff after the MC because he secretly thinks it’s super cute). Vanilluxe and Tropius were added since they had food-like elements that could be useful in making different types of pastries. Bisharp and Rapidash represent the image that Ichy tries to pull off in front of his peers: cool and definitely not interested in baking (Also, Bsiharp could help slice ingredients easily and Rapidash could be used as a substitute oven? lol) Azumarill was added honestly because I feel Ichigo has a soft spot for round, cute things (since it reminds him of the MC XD). Since Takeshi is a runner and reads a lot of shounen manga, these choices seemed pretty accurate to me. Lucario is like the ultimate shounen Pokemon, plus he and Takeshi both share that default stoic expression (aaand they have similar color schemes XD).
